I have over 15 years’ experience in legal translation, and have held numerous workshops and seminars on legal English and legal translation.
My clients have included government agencies and major UK and German law firms. I have also acted as an expert witness on American law for German courts.
I am licensed to perform certified (beglaubigte) translations from English into German and vice-versa by the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.
Here are my policies on translations for private clients:
- Complete confidentiality. Any documents you send to me, even for a fee quote or sample translation, will be handled with complete confidentiality, as if they were covered by attorney-client privilege. Upon request, all originals will be effectually deleted after the job is over.
- No outsourcing. I generally do not outsource work (and never without express permission), and will ensure that every part of the translation is personally performed or reviewed by me.
- Firm deadlines. For time-sensitive work, I will name a realistic deadline and deliver on time.
- Official terminology. In every translation, I always use any official translations of statutes or court decisions provided by the EU or the German, UK, or US governments, to ensure complete consistency.
I can also review and edit documents, and provide contextual analysis of English-language legal terminology.
If necessary, I can work on ‘evolving’ documents, and to provided updated translations.
